I have a saying, “You can’t get it until you’re in it.” On July 26, 2020, I began my journey of understanding how my mom felt when she lost her mother. For years my mom talked about how much she missed her mom. I did not understand this level of loss until it happened to me. If you have experienced this kind of loss, you know what I’m talking about.
From my pain God allowed me to give birth to IKNOW Skincare Treatment Solutions to honor my mom and to keep her memory alive. When I was a young girl, I remember my mom using the remnants of leftover oatmeal on her face as her beauty regimen. She would always tell us to “take care of your skin so that it will take care of you later”. This advice among so many other nuggets have stayed on the forefront of my mind for years.
The dragonfly came to comfort me right after my mom transitioned. It represents wisdom, change, transformation, light, and adaptability in life. The above adjectives represent what I continue to strive for in order for me to grow and prosper in my 4th quarter.
My mother had a green thumb. She loved to garden and grow fresh vegetables. We would pick the collard greens from her garden on Thanksgiving Day, and she would cook them to perfection. For years she encouraged me to grow my own vegetables, so I hope she sees the beautiful garden that we created with her in mind. My husband bought me a placard that states “OMER JEAN'S LOVE GARDEN...LOVE GROWS HERE”.
